This weekend was my birthday. I'm a year older, a year wiser, and now with out a car... but that's a good thing! I flew home to atlanta and spent 48hrs being with my family and friends, and also got to transferr the title of my Jetta to its new owner. Now I have no more payments to worry about while I live up here. Its so awesome not to have to worry about that anymore! :D

This picture is last night. My friends from Origins took me out to dinner in Hell's Kitchen to a mexican place for food & drinks. We had a great time, and I got some Ikea meatballs and super crunchy peanut butter. It was swell.

Not to mention, I got to spend some good time w/ my roomate(s), Adrienne (yeah, your included too Matt). I think they like me. Their dogs do, so that's always a good sign. I learned that there's voodoo in the building and I have no idea how to react to that.

Anyways, its a new week and I have things to take care of like a NY Nicks game, meetings, and Friday I plan to go see the Bjorkestra. Should be fun!

Mac & Wine... no cheese.

It was very impromptu, but saturday night I ended up in the upper west side at my friend's apartment. I packed up my MBP, grabbed a bottle of shiraz and chilled with him and other friends from Origins and had ourselves a little Mac-party. Geeky? Very, but lots of fun.

Its been cold up here. From what I understand, its even going to get a bit colder though the week and there are forcasts of ice and snow in the next 24-48hrs. No one is sure if it'll be much, but a nice blanket of show when I wake up is very nice to see. I'll try to post some pics when we have a good snowfall.

Of better news.... I SOLD MY CAR! I'm so happy. I just got back from the bank & post office to express my payoff to VW Credit and have them express the title back to Atlanta. I'm flying home this Friday and will excange the title and then to spend my brithday with family & friends before I fly back to NYC on Sunday.

Yes its a short trip, but will be worth it on so many different levels. Mostly I am free from my car payment so I can start saving money for real things than a car i'm never using. Mainly I will releive myself of a car payment that has haunted me since I moved up here, but also shows how faith has proven itself over and over. I'm really blessed to see a small series of events have such a large impact in my life. Additonally I will be home for my birthday this Saturday to see all my ATLiens.

My car woe isn't 100% over yet. Not until I get the title signed over. Put that in your prayers, please.

how do you prepare for...

A High of 43,

and a low of 19?

Yes.. this is all in the same day. I belive the low today is about average for this time of year, and everyone has been pretty greatful for all the warm weather (40-50's) we've had this past week or two. I don't want to pull out my heavy coat, cause its too warm for 40 degree weather. My answer? Layers. Hope it works.

Its been 2 weeks now. And I thought I'd muse on some things that I've noticed about New York (from a Georgian's point of view).

* Approx. 75% of New Yorkers wear black clothing daily.
Its true. Look around and you'll know exactly what I mean.

* After two days at work, I hate tourists.
Since I work on 5th Ave, there are TONS of pepole walking around with their heads pointed straight up looking at all the pretty buildings. Whats worse is they walk 3-4 people wide.

* 5th avenue divides the city.
You hear a lot about East whatever, and West whatever. Here's why. If your on the east side of 5th ave, then all the street names are called East 54th and vice versa. Not only that, but numbers start at 1 and grow outwardly from 5th. So 1 W 24th street is across the street from 1 E 24th. Got it? Good.

* Brooklyn is awesome.
You wouldn't think it, but Brooklyn has some amazing places to check out. Prospect Park, Cobble Hill, Park Slope, Williamsburg, etc... Each has its own vibe and great boutique shops, coffee houses, pubs, and amazing restraunts. I'm still learning where everything is at, but enjoying the process.

* Chick-fil-A does exist!!
Its called Chick-fil-A Express and only one in the entire city. Its on the NYU campus. The challenge is to see if I can get into the building to eat there even though I'm not a student. Its the real deal though. I've been told by many different people.

Thats good for now. I'm only 2 weeks in, so I'm working on it. Got any questions?

I'm selling my car.

Anyone want to buy it?

This has been an amazing weekend. Actually, since Jan 1st, I don't
think I have anything to complain about.

Friday night, I got in touch w/ an old friend from college. He and I
haven't seen each other in about 5yrs, maybe. I met him & his wife
for drinks and had a good time catching up on each others lives.

Saturday the weather was beautiful. 65 and sunny. So spent most of the
afternoon walking around Prospect Park (which is a very large and
beautiful park) and the shops of Park Slope. After a while of that I
came home and relaxed because next was to meet up with a
friend-of-a-friend from school. We never met before in person, but have been emailing
through Myspace and went to go see a Radiohead cover band. We had a
great time and I made a new friend.

So Sunday morning I get up and take the train about 30-40mins to the
Upper West Side (72nd street) to check out a church. The service was
good and everyone was so nice & friendly. I ended up having lunch with
a group from there and had a great time.

That night, I went back into Brooklyn and ended up at a bar called
Trash Bar. I was told about this place because their services meet in
the back concert room on sunday nights. So I had a beer, then went to
church. Again, everyone was extremely friendly and they invited me to
hang back for a while and had cigars & beers w/ the people there.

Its really strange to see how much love is in New York. From last week
on, I've felt it in some way everyday from someone different. I'm
curious to see how long it'll last, but i'm building relationships and
loving every minute of it.

Now if I could only sell my car...

its the new year kids.

Its been a week now in New York, and I wish I could say its been wonderful everyday, but it hasn't. Not to say I'm not enjoying my time here (because I am), but lets just say and old friend and I have to work out some issues... Its ok though. I think this is one of things that was supposed to happen and one day will look back and understand why.

Enough of that though. I found a place to live. Its in Park Slope, Brooklyn - a very nice, somewhat posh area of Brooklyn near Prospect Park. I looked up Park Slope on Google and according to the locals here Jennifer Connally, Steve Bueschimi, John Turturo, They Might Be Giants, etc.. all live in my neighborhood. Cool, eh? Speaking of, I haven't had any of those NY celebrity encounters, but from what I understand its just a matter of time.

This weekend I hope to go catch a concert in the Lower East Side. There's a Radiohead tribue band playing and so I hope they don't suck. Probably don't, if they are a tribute band. Bad ones don't get gigs. My old roomates and I tried the Radiohead cover route and I thought we pulled it off very well, but too much going on in our lives to see it though to a real show. The music was awesome, and it was soo much fun.

Hopefully I'll find a way to play drums or guitar while I'm here. 15yrs of study and music school will not go to waste.
