Spider - Maaaaaaan!

Well here's some news. Apparently NYC's most popular super hero will be leaving the big screen and hitting Broadway.

From the article:
"The musical will be directed by Tony Award-winner Julie Taymor with U2's Bono and The Edge creating new music and lyrics for the project," Marvel said in a statement....

"We are certain this project will delight fans of Spider-Man and new audiences alike," said David Maisel, chairman of Marvel Studios, whose previous Broadway credits include spearheading the 1999 award-winning musical "Fosse" about the life and work of showman Bob Fosse.

So there you have it kids. The hero in tights, will be spinning his web and singing his spidey-heart out in the next year, most likely.  Will it be good? Hard to say. I'm more curious how the effects on stage will reproduce his web-slinging.

I do think, musically, that Bono & Edge might crank out some good tunes. Maybe even recycle some of their material into the show. Maybe the song they used in the Batman Forever soundtrack... its a good one.

And I can see Peter Parker & Mary Jane in a love ballad, low spotlight, and burst out in passionate song... "Suddenly  Seymour Peter! Is right there beside me!..."  (wait.. that sounds too familiar)

Weekend fun in Brooklyn.

While it was April 7th, somehow the weather was still in the mid 30's all day. There were supposed to be more of us going to Coney Island, but some are just too scared. I went with some of my Cali friends (and two of their friends visiting). We ate some Nathan's hot dogs, rode the Cyclone, then wandered back to the Brooklyn Bridge area for some ice cream and scenery.
